Factories
2009-2012
What is left when humans leave? Wild, undefined, abandoned places that people traverse, leaving signs of their presence — factories, stations, barns, pools. There is no descriptive rendering in these spaces; the painter paints the atmosphere, contexts marked by human discomfort when faced by the idyll of nature, where our place as humans is no longer self-evident. These abandoned spaces set the stage for a transformation of matter, where gradual or sudden changes, premeditated or suffered, restore nature to its full rights. The alchemy at work makes room for moments of wholeness.
